We purchased this oversized lookout for our 2 Chihuahuas to share. It fits nicely in our Suburban on the bench or on a bucket seat. I did do some careful measuring first though before we purchased it. It might not fight in smaller cars. It is a great height for the girls to look out the window. I just hook them up with a leash splitter and their harnesses and they are good to go. No more wandering around the car or climbing on everyone. This is so much safer all around. It is a good quality, nice and soft. We are very happy with it.

Unbelievable! This was my first experience in trying to make a purchase through Safe Home Products. I placed an order for the SNOOZER Lookout 1 (NO Drawer) product (ASIN: B000ANL8PI) which was advertised at the sale price of $37.60 on 11/25/08. Shipping was $19.50, so the total cost would have been $57.10.

Today I received an email from them, claiming that they CANCELLED my order because the $37.60 price was actually for a COVER for the unit. If that's the case, then why did the retail price show as $79.95 with a 53% discount (thus the $37.60 price)???

I even phoned them and, upon speaking to their customer service rep (who claimed to have spoken to the owner of the company), was told that they have been "fighting with Amazon.com over this". If I were them, the last thing I'd do would be to bad-mouth Amazon. Such unprofessionalism.

Talk about bait-and-switch tactics. I will NEVER deal with this company again and encouage others not to.

Great product. I adopted a 2 year old Shih Tzu who seemed to have anxiety attacks during car rides. It didn't matter if he sat in the front, the back, or on someone's lap. After 2 weeks (it took time to adjust) being buckled in the Snoozer, he is travelling happily, and is relaxing more and more during car rides. I did have some trouble with him twisting himself into the harness when he was more anxious. I used the manufacturer's suggestion to use a safety pin and it did help some. Now that he is used to the car seat, it is no longer a problem. Highly recommended by my dog and me.

Carrier was acceptable for Jet Blue and Us Airways, even on a smaller short hop jet. It seemed very small for our 10lb dog, but she seemed comfortable during the cross country trip and slept most of the time. I like the top and side openings and the bottom was supportive. It was easy to carry through the airport as well. Most people didn't even realize we had a dog at first. The company we bought it from was not able to be contacted and there was no rush option. They didn't send it out until 2 days after they said they would, but luckily it got to us in time. I had ordered a little more than a week before our trip. Just plan ahead to order. I can definitely recommend this item.

I had been looking for the "perfect" pet carrier for some time. After an exhaustive search and several purchases, this turned out to be the perfect one. It is made well and is roomy enough for my little maltese without being too big. It is cute and discreet since it looks like an ordinary tote bag/ large purse. With this, I can sneak my dog into places that I normally would not be able to take him inside.

I wanted something that I could carry on my shoulder, had sides that could be unzipped for my dog to stick his head out, and had a padded chin rest. I also wanted one that had a large enough pocket for my personal items so that I did not also have to carry a purse with me.

I highly recommend this carrier:)

When other reviews I've read said that this product was difficult to assemble they certainly weren't exaggerating. Just got it today in preparation for my new pet rabbit. Great size and cute design. Fully functional pet carrier, but it turned into a group activity trying to put this thing together. The wire parts refuse to stay in place as you're trying to assemble the carrier, so you'll probably need a second pair of hands just to keep the three in place while you're trying to piece this thing together. A few of the place parts didn't have the holes completely done so had to widen them to their proper size. Took about half an hour to completely assemble with 3 people. Perfectly functional and great visually, but challenge to assemble.

Last year I purchased a new pet rabbit and started looking for all of the accessory items I would require to care for it. As a college student, I needed some way to transport the rabbit back and forth between my home and campus.

While doing a rather extensive search through Amazon and other sites, I came upon this very fashionable little carrier. For the price, it was very unique in design and color (the color is actually a baby blue which is a little different than how the carrier appears on my monitor).

I've had it for a year now and it fits my rabbit perfectly. She's about seven pounds and fairly long. This carrier gives her enough room to hop forward once and turn around. She enjoys it very much and willingly enters it if I leave the door open.

Some assembly is required, but it's very simple. It comes with a food/water dish that attaches to the inside of the door as well as a sticker sheet for lettering the carrier with your initials/last name/pet name/whatever. Once assembled it is very durable. It has points molded into the top piece for a shoulder strap to be attached.

All in all, I don't regret purchasing this item and I feel it is perfect for my uses.

I have been looking for a purse style carrier for a while. This is an inexpensive one comparing to the others I've seen at local pet stores. Looking at the price online, I thought this would be a cheaply constructed bag, but I the $100+ bags are out of my range. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the bag. It has nice padding inside. It's light weight. The length of the shoulder straps is just right. My dog is only 6 lbs but she's lean and tall. This bag allows my dog to poke her head out on top so she can stand comfortably if she doesn't want to sit. Many purse style carriers only allow pets to poke their head out on the side which is too low for my dog. The only thing I don't like is there is nothing inside the bag to secure my dog. There is a D-ring inside the bag but ideally there should be a snap thingy that can be hooked to the D-ring on my dog's collar/harness.

I am 5'2 and my dog is 3.5 lbs. As soon as I got this bag out of the box, she immediately crawled into it. She is now sleeping in it. It is small enough for me to maneuver and carry on a very busy NYC bus and fits comfortably underneath my arm and the straps are adjustable and I can wear it over my winter coat. My only regret is that I didn't get the USB plus with the pocket on the outside, I still can't decide if paying $30 for a pocket and doggie poop bag holder is worth the extra money. (As of 11/13 I bought the bag for $70, the USB Plus is about $100).

I bought this back in January 2009 for my Maltese. I think it's a shame that people are giving a low rating because they got the measurements wrong. However, I think the handles probably hold up 20lbs or whatever but the top size for a dog should be around 5lbs. I think a dog larger than that would be uncomfortable. My Maltese is 4lbs full grown and she can sit, turn around and lay down in the bag comfortably for hours. It think physically it would be hard to carry a dog heavier than 5 or 6lbs. and a rolling carrier is probably better. I use this bag everyday as a car seat and a carrier. It's very discreet and I take my Maltese to the movies, to school, work, restuarants, the grocery store, and on the airplane and people barely notice. I've got so much use out of it that I need a second one bc the zipper is starting to go.

The carseat is very nice, well put-together and very functional and sturdy. However, it is much smaller than I imagined it would be, and my puppy only used it once before he outgrew it! Pay attention to the measurements that the manufacturer provides and measure your pup if you have to, otherwise your experience will be as disappointing as mine. However, the disappointment was my fault alone for not attending to the size. This product would be very useful for a cat, or a small toy-sized dog or small puppy. My puppy was too big for it at 11 lbs., so I really mean SMALL!

I really like this carrier. I had a medium sized carrier from another company and it was way too small for my 7 pound yorkie, so I had to purchase a new one, so that we could travel by airplane. My dog fits this carrier with oodles of room to spare. My dog can easily stand up and turn around and probably could have another pup in there with her. The only drawback was that I had to squash the carrier just a bit to fit it under the seat on the airplane. It is nice looking and suits my needs.

With a plane trip <5 days away, I needed a pet carrier for my 10 lb Pomeranian. After ordering the medium, I received a confirmation call from the seller asking to confirm her weight and size to ensure we received the right carrier. After receipt, I was able to open up the carrier where others couldn't see in, but she could see out. This calmed her significantly since she is not a frequent traveler. She was able to fit comfortably under a middle seat on the plane. I am very pleased with this purchase as it is a much better option than the hard carriers which she barely fits in for cabin travel, yet more sturdy than some of the flimsier options out there.

I have a large 13 lb cat that I bought this bag for. The size was just right for him to stand and turn around. I traveled with this bag on American Airlines with no issue. Though the bag fit under the seat in front of me, it is a bit long. I was fortunate in that the person seated next to me did not have any carry-on luggage to stow as my bag did encroach into his space.

The mesh ventilation is good and bad. Good in that it is sturdy and will not be easily torn. Bad in that the holes are very small, providing little air flow. My cat was damp when I finally landed and was able to pull him out. I believe it to be due to the humidity build up in the bag.

The straps on the bag are awkward. The handle straps work ok. I was able to hold onto the bag this way for a while. Due to the size of the cat and his movement, it was hard to keep a steady balance. The shoulder straps were not that great. With a smaller pet, it might have been ok. When my cat would shift weight it would cause the bag to tip and my cat to slide to the bottom, resulting in the bag flipping on end. I ended up carrying him with two hands through the airport to try and keep the bag level.

Overall. The bag is good. It works with a larger cat and met the airline's requirements, which is just what I needed.

I bought the medium and large Jet Set pet carrier through Amazon for my Chihuahua and Dachshund after looking at all the other carriers in New York pet stores. I simply wanted an attractive and rugged dog carrier that could genuinely withstand the rigors of travel and protect my dogs against inevitable knocks and jolts. It needed to be well padded and offer far more protection than the most popular soft carrier but also be able to squeeze under an airplane seat. However at home, I needed something that wasn't so utilitarian that it needed to be shut away but instead could function as a subtle and sensible den.

On the whole, I found almost all the competition either too feminine bordering on the stupid and/or too flimsy for serious consideration by anyone not just considering flying with a dog, but for any travel whether by car, subway or even bicycle!

The Jet Set carriers have proven themselves as very tough and practical. I like their well padded interiors and simple tough exterior (though I wish they came in other colors especially black or dark brown). The floor, side walls and ceiling all have what feels like at least a half inch of foam padding on a semi-rigid backing. The interior padding is covered in a soft black cloth. I wish that the floor was removable or there was a fleece lining I could buy so I simply line it with newspaper and cover with an old folded bath mat. The exterior shell in tough thick ballistic nylon (that as I mentioned I wish came in other more muted colors). On either side are windows with roll-up cover flaps and both ends have zippered soft nylon mesh openings. These offer a good mix of ventilation and privacy that some other dog carriers don't - either too much or too little. Also my Dachshund has chewed through the soft plastic mesh of other brand dog carriers (that I was unhappy with for all the reasons I like the Jet Set) but at best, just flossed his teeth on the Jet Set's mesh.

I completely endorse and recommend the Jet Set bag. I can't imagine there is a better dog carrier on the market - I certainly didn't find one in the dozen or more pet stores I visited in Manhattan ranging from Petco to very high end designer shops. They've performed amazingly well and at about $110 were excellent value for money especially compared to both cheaper and much more expensive carriers that look foolish and don't offer your dog enough protection on the move. I've seen some people on airplanes that have "fashion" dog bags that one could see were completely inadequate and inwhich the dog was uncomfortable and miserable. My dogs love their Jet Sets as dens at home (tucked under dining chairs in the corner of a room) and inasmuch seem just as relaxed and happy curled up/stretched out in them on the subway, in a plane or car.

Large shoulder or arm bag, doesn't look like a pet carrier, vented ends but no where else (which is good for colder & windy weather, probably not good for warm weather), very roomy inside, fuzzy removable washable liner, 3 large INSIDE zippered pockets (not really very convenient to use), isn't approved for airlines (because of height?), top entry with a bit of an awkward zipper, no inside leash attachment. Despite any drawbacks, this bag does not look like a pet carrier, making it easier to tote the puppy about town in cool weather, which is what I need. Good choice for us.

This is a sturdy, attractive, spacious carrier that is very practical. I love the fact that it's inconspicuous and allows you to take your dog anywhere without being detected. It also folds up very neatly and compactly, allowing you to store anywhere when not in use.

From afar this carrier looks very beautiful, classic and sharp. However, up close the vinyl accents look and feel cheap. It also smells horrible when new, with a very strong plastic aroma. I had to "air it out" for a few days before placing my precious pup in it.

This being said, you really can't go wrong for this price. The carrier is attractive, economical and durable.

I would definitely be willing to pay a little extra for genuine leather accents rather than the current vinyl ones.

I bought this jogging kit to convert the pet bicycle trailer into a jogging trailer for my 13 year old springer spainiel who is 55 pounds. It is a great way for us (our lab & I) to get to walk fast while also bringing our springer with us. The one drawback is the tire is unstable. It has a lock to keep it in the forward motion, but it creates a problem for turning, etc. When you don't lock the front tire, it wobbles constantly. But it's better than not bringing our doggie with us.

Well firstly my 50lb dog easily overcame the spring and bent is so far over that it interferes with my leg. I didn't realise when I ordered it that it only mounts on the right side of the bike because of the direction of the threads and should have a pin, or some sort of locking mechanism to stop it from backing off. Even on the right side my dog was able to back off the threads by stopping suddenly. Finding a lead the right length is a little difficult as on is not provided. All these types of leashes have there issues, the concept of this one seems sound, but as it stands, it is completely useless for my purposes.

I love this Item. I was a little unsure cause all the reviews where for larger dogs. I have a 22 pound border collie mix. I live on the beach and there is a seawall that I use to ride her everyday. I like the way she stays next to the bike. I also like that it can unscrew when I get to the beach so when I chain my bike up I can remove it with ease so it wont get stolen.

The center of gravity is great also and my dog stays right next to me. The direction where a little funny but it was very easy to figure out without directions.

The look is nice also. This could be used for a large breed dog or a chi. I am glad I picked this product. And shipping was quick I got it within three days.

This is a great product. It's very easy to install. The leash bar can be unscrewed quickly for riding without your dog. You use one of your own leashes to connect with the leash bar. It will take a few minutes for your dog to get used to riding along side. I suggest practicing turns in an empty parking lot. It works great. If your dog pulls, it is on the center of the bike and doesn't cause a loss of balance. It seems to be a well made product that is well thought out.

Both the Product Features and Product Description mention a "Seat Belt Slot" in this kennel. The one that arrived at my house did not have this very important safety feature, nor did it have the tie down holes that the larger kennels have, so I sent it back. I am happy with all my other Petmate kennels (that have seat belt slots or tie downs), but this kennel should not be used for traveling anywhere since there is no safe way to secure it down. Dog crates should never just be placed inside a car without securing it down, as they become projectiles in the event of an accident.

This is our first dog and our first crate, so we don't have other products with which to compare this one. That said, this crate is attractive, solid, and not too heavy (easy for my wife or me to carry up and down stairs). Easy to put together as well.

If you are trying to figure out what size crate for your dog, we got this crate for a female Bouvier. She is a puppy now but will likely be around 70 lbs and 24" tall at the shoulder. The crate is nice for her as a puppy -- enough room to move around but not so much that she can pee on one end and hang out at the other. We believe it will be a good size for her as an adult too.

The carrier arrived quickly, and looked well-constructed for the purpose. The only problem is that nowhere on Amazon was mentioned in the description the recommended animal size. I consider a cat to be a 'small' animal, so I got the small carrier. It was only when I received it that it seemed a little too small, and on the packaging was it written that it was recommended for animals up to 10-lbs. If you own a teeny cat, teacup chihuahua, or a big guinea pig, the 'small' one would work. Otherwise, I recommend you get the 'large' carrier (and that Amazon prints the weight restrictions on that as well. Those little pictures do not give you a good representation of the size of what you are buying!) If I had gotten the right sized carrier, it would've worked perfectly for me.

This was a great cat carrier for us. We only used it once because it will be the last time we ever carry our cat. (She hates being carried.) We had to take her as a carry-on from California to North Carolina and it was hard. She cried and peed and was then wet and smelly. But the back was great and kept her contained. The carrier arrived quickly, and looked well-constructed for the purpose. The only problem is that nowhere on Amazon was mentioned in the description the recommended animal size. I consider a cat to be a 'small' animal, so I got the small carrier. This bag is very sturdy, comfortable and spacious. My mini doxen loves going in there all by herself. I am sure she can't wait to ride in it when we use it in the plane. There is a good sized pocket in the back and the strap evens doubles as a leash. I think that this bag is just as good as the more expensive Sherpa bag. I reccommend it if you are traveling or just want to tote your dog around.

I've had the medium-sized Sherpa bag for two years and I am very happy with it. My 12 pound cat fits well in this carrier and even has room to turn around. Also, kitty never overheats in there because it is well-ventilated.

For air travel:

All of the openings are zippered so there is no chance of a mid-flight, stealth cat escape (if you've traveled with a cat, you know what I mean.) It's easy to carry and I have never had trouble getting it on an airplane, though, it does stick out from under the seat a bit. Normally, it is my only carry-on because it has enough room in the extra zippered pockets for my wallet, tickets, a small towel, magazines and a book.

I must say, I was willing to pay this amount because I thought I was getting a better quality item. After a only a few weeks, this bag caved in and my puppy would no longer go into it. I tried several times and ways to fix it, but it would not stay up.

I contacted the company and they told me to "stuff it with wet towels and spray it heavily with starch..." are they kidding? Then I found a reference to this problem under their web site FAQ's. So, they are knowingly selling a defective item and expecting the customer to then fix it. They never responded to my second email... I could not return it because it had been used.

This is a company that does NOT stand behind it's products. I found a much less expensive one at target, and it works much better!

Do not waste the extra $ on this item.

Up until last week, we had been using an old comforter in the cargo area of our CR-V. We have a Dalmatian and a golden retriever so the dog hair has been an issue for us. Especially with the Dalmatian, since her hair sticks like glue AND we have a black interior. This cargo cover is great because it goes all the way up the back of the seats and has velcro to help it stay in place along with adjustable clip-on straps that go around the head rests. It fits perfectly in our CR-V. Exactly what we needed!

Small dogs only! Our weim puppy will definitely outgrow this by the time he is 4 months old. It is big enough for smaller dogs/short legged dogs though and is long to allow maneuvering. It doesn't have a decent set of directions although the pictures will be more than enough to get you through. The locking handle is nice if you plan to use it to travel, and it does meet the standards for airline travel. There is no handle and it is bulky so moving it around the house is quite troublesome, especially with stairs and sharp turns. It is light weight though, a positive and negative quality; easy for you to move and easy for the dog to move too! You must put something in the crate, like a pee pee pad, if you are using it with a pup as the bottom has a groove around the edges and it will create a moat of pee! That is an entirely different issue but one to think about when crate shopping. It does seem to be very sturdy as our other full grown dogs have batted it around (with the pup inside) and no harm was done. It can be easily disassembled for cleaning and storage and was a great value considering the size!

Although I haven't had to actually take the carrier and strap on the road yet, due to my health, I have tested it around the apartment, against my cat's loud protests!

The strap fits very securly, and as long as you get the right wheels and install them correctly, there should be no problems. I even found water and food dishes that snap into place on the carrier door!

Once I get well, it's "On the road again." Although the cat may need some gelsymium (?) to calm him down, my dog loves our little trips here and there!

It was simple to piece this together (no tools, just snap in place); however, one of the snapping pieces is warped and doesn't fit properly - it took maneuvering to get it to clasp. My cat is comfortable in it, which turns out to be a good thing, because he was stuck in it while I had to take it apart to get him out as the door would not open. The top spring-loaded door latch malfunctioned. So, after taking it apart to release Stevie to the wilds of my kitchen, I fiddled and finally forced with extreme pressure the latch and it snapped open. However, I don't know that this piece of tupperware with a metal door will be used again. I think it needs to be sent back.

I received the product and it truly is top of the line. I have gotten compliments at the vet for what a nice carrier it is. As my kitten is getting older he seems to be getting used to it, but for it as a bed, he doesn't ever go and lie in it. I have never been so sad that a product did not work out. To be fair, I knew that this *might* be a stretch when I purchased it so my return had nothing to do with the craftsmanship or quality of the item. I live downtown in the financial district and do not have a car - this was going to be perfect for short local visits and weekend trips via the airplane, bus and public transport. My 16#, five year old pug was just too wide in the girth to fit comfortably even though she is right at 11 inches across - the wheels of the carrier cut into the animal space making the inside depth (of the base) closer to 8 inches and impossible for her to fully sit in the carrier. However, the ventilation was there, smooth easy handle and the perfect 20in size for a piece of hand luggage. If you have a smaller dog/cat - enjoy!

The carrying case itself is superb, and I have purchased others from Teafco. My only complaint is that the top carrying handle broke almost as soon as it was used ... it is clear that this was only due to poor workmanship but definitely worth trying before buying ... I would find a physical outlet ahead of using Amazon in future.

Worth bearing in mind also is the fact that this carrier does not conform to the majority of airline size requirements.

I got this carrier as a birthday present in March 08, and thought it was great with the design and the comfort for my dog. I really liked the wheels and now durable they were. It was the perfect carrier for my train ride up north and had the pockets I needed to put my dogs food and stuff in.

It had two big windows on the side, and helped my Yorkie get all the ventilation he could possibly need.

When I got back from my trip, I thought the clean up would take long, but it was the most easy clean up I could ever hoped for. Everything looked good as new. I definitely recommend this carrier.

I also liked how the mesh windows were soft yet protected my yorkie from hurting his teeth and his nails. I had a horrible experiance with one of those Plastic carriers you find at your local pet store, and my puppy hurt his nail with the metal rod. The mesh windows prevents him from that horrible experiance.

I chose this pet carrier because I was looking for a wheeled carrier that fit American Airline regulation.

I just received the carrier and I am a bit disappointed at how little the designer thought of the pet when designing this carrier. It looks more like a regular carry on with a couple of side vents. There is no option to roll down the front halfway so my poor dog can stick his head out when I roll the carrier around. I am afraid my dog would get too clausterphobic in this. Its nice to have some pockets for storing some things in it as well - but I would rather not have the pockets and have more vents and more options to open the carrier for my doggi'es viewing entertainment.

I would not recommend this carrier to anyone thinking of using it for a medium sized dog. Unfortunately, its the only one I could find to fit regulation.

It was incredibly uncomfortable for him, me, and my family who saw the unhappy fellow via webcam. This is a great bag, and my Chihuahua puppy loves it...however, if you have an animal larger than 7-10 pounds, you would need one size bigger. the compartment size is about the size of a six pack of coke, so bear that in mind. My girl loves this product. She loves going into it, the amount of room (I got the larger size); it's like a safe haven when we take car rides. And it is easy to sling over my shoulder when I want to carry other things. It has a leash inside so she can't get out. Very win win. Highly recommend. The first carrier I ordered arrived broken. The rod across the length of the top interior was falling down. All one would have to do to dislodge said bar is to push on the top of the carrier - NOT safe for animals at all, as there are sharp bits on the usually hidden part of the rod that is revealed when it's hanging down. I don't know how easy it would be to do this, so it doesn't effect my review, but I felt it was worth mentioning.

The most worrisome aspect of this carrier (and my only true complaint) is that it reeked of chemicals! It off-gasses something horrible - similar to a foam mattress when you first get it. I let it air out for a while, but I can still smell the chemicals a little. As someone who doesn't use chemicals to clean because of the pets, I didn't even feel comfortable letting my cats explore the carriers for a few weeks.

Other than that, this carrier is wonderful! It's made of high quality material and feels very, very solid and secure! I rarely feel completely comfortable carrying my cats in any type of carrier, as I always fear the worst, but I felt like they were safe in these carriers! I'd even allow someone else to carry them. I don't feel like the cat could ever escape or fall out of this carrier if properly fastened. The straps were extremely comfortable when carrying.

The ventilation is iffy. It's great for cats, however, who don't need/like to see all of the chaos outside when being transported. Frightened cats calm down when you cover their heads, and this is the same principle - they can see just enough out of the windows.

The design is lovely! It will please most everyone for whom style is a priority - especially if you like contemporary style. It's unique, stylish, well-made, and similar to luxury luggage. The pictures show the colors true to life.

I found the size to be generous. I have small to medium-sized cats who are around 10 pounds each, and they fit with plenty of room to spare. I could have easily fit two cats in one carrier even though I'd be pushing the weight restrictions on the carrier. I have a mid-size SUV and the carriers fit perfectly across the back seat lengthwise. The cats can stand up without touching the top of the carrier.

It's very comfortable inside. I have Sphynx cats (hairless) and I'm sure they appreciate the felt interior and cushion on the bottom. I would say this carrier is not suited for medium to long-haired dogs/cats in hotter climates because of all the soft/warm interior finishes and the lack of ventilation. I wouldn't leave any animal in it for an unreasonable amount of time.

Would definitely recommend.

This is a great product for the money. It's the sturdiest "soft" carrier I have ever seen. Much nicer than some that are MUCH more expensive AND it only weighs a pound. The padding is well protected in case of "accidents" yet comfortable for the critter. Just about everyone at the vet's office has commented on how nice it is and asked where I bought it so they could reccommend it to others. You can't go wrong with this carrier.

I was a little disappointed in the top loading feature. There is not push lock on top like there is on the front. You basically pull the grill until it clicks which could be a problem if the cat is not too happy with being put in there. Otherwise, it is basically a good roomy carrier. Very handsome. This is the best cat carrier I've ever had. Sturdy but light-weight and very secure. I have arthritis in my fingers but could open both top and front (with some effort originally). They do loosen up considerably after they're opened and closed a dozen times or so. I couldn't put anything together from a picture, but that's usually the way instructions come these days, and I believe this carrier is an Italian make. Fortunately, my husband is good at that; he thought the handle was actually better put in opposite to the instructions - I couldn't say. Best of all, it saved us from fighting with two of our cats who had both of us bleeding everytime we tried to put them in a cage. We just drop them in the top and close - couldn't be easier. The staff and Vets say they love these carriers -it makes their lives easier too.

I had to email for instructions, only to discover missing parts and a whole lot of extra, unrelated parts. No pad for your pet, who has to lay on bare plastic. Hope there's no accidents! This obviously was intended by the manufacturer to be assembled by the reseller prior to sale. I'm going over to my local pet store and buy one there.

I own 5 cats and am currently fostering 5 kittens. I'm always traveling to the Vet's office and I have owned many different carriers.

This is the best carrier I've had so far. The convenience of the top opening is very helpful when dealing with a very sick or reluctant cat. (A brand new carrier is very stiff at first and takes a little more effort to open/close the top.) The vets have complimented on it also. In some cases, its easy for them to examine an animal from the top without struggling to take it out. It is well made and quite frankly, NOT difficult to assemble at all. I am VERY happy with this carrier and plan to purchase another one.

The assembly instructions for this are just awful. It's not a difficult assembly, but it was annoying. This feels like it could be a little more sturdy, but it will get the job done. The most difficult part was putting the handle on the top. I didn't push the pins through as far as I should have, and the handle kept slipping out.

If you are planning on using the top entry, be forwarned that it is a bit difficult to close. You have to squeeze the crate a bit. Which is easier said than done if the animal is pushing up on the lid.

I bought this because I have a cat who was rescued from a Cat Collector's home. He lived the first year of his life wedged in a crate with another cat. Obviously he's not a fan of being put back in a crate to go to the vet. This worked well for him, it was easy to put him in through the roof & he seemed pleased that he wasn't quite so closed in.

I purchased this for my Min Pin puppy (currently 2.5 lbs) after returning the Teafco Argo Pet Peek-A-Boo Carrier, Small, Tango Orange. I reviewed that product also.

As for this product, I am very happy with it, and I cannot wait to use it on Saturday when I take her to the vet. It can be carried, and has an optional shoulder strap, which is padded very nicely. It is a bit wider than it looks in the photographs though, but that's not really a big deal for me.

The construction of this product is very good, however it is too small to fit your pet in comfortably under the airline seat unless you have a 3lb pet. I have a 7 pound chihuahua which flys with me often and he could barely fit in this carrier because the back angles down taking away from the space, also with the pad inside took away even more space. If this carrier did not angle down in the back and was maybe an inch or 2 longer it would be the perfect airline carrier.

When measured, this carrier actually is only 13" deep. BEWARE. It is not meant for anything more than a tiny tiny dog or a kitten. My cats stuck out of the back end of it trying to get in. I'm trying to transport cats on a plane and the small was the only one in the line that is "airline approved". It's a serious bummer. I'm trying the Aero next. Let's see how that goes.

This is one of the best and coolest soft pet carrier we have ever seen and used. Very well structured and roomy for small pets. We own 2 Vet in PA, and this product was first introduced by our client. We bought 2 for our staffs in the clinic and traveled with ferrets, rabbits, cats and dogs to NY, IL, and TX without any problem. 3 windows give ventilation from different directions unlike other pet carriers. Double layer mesh windows prevent nails hook on holes of mesh, yet the air floatation is never an issue. Suggestions to new pet owners from us: Make sure the mesh windows are allowing enough ventilation through carriers from different directions. It is very important because some flight attendants will ask you to keep your pets inside the carrier all time during the flight. With the durable structural design, it protects the pets from injured by squeezing or bumping by accident while underneath the seat. We have never seen pet carriers with heavy duty hooks & comfortable straps. This carrier is highly recommended to those heavy travelers with pets. We give this carrier 5+ stars and 2 paws up!

A long time dog lover, I've now switched to a cat. (Doesn't need to be walked in the freezing rain) I was looking for a reasonably priced, yet well designed pet carrier and I gave this product a try. Well, it works very well as my cat hasn't figured out how to escape and probably never will; the door requires someone with an opposing thumb to work the latch. Cats aren't that smart, you could probably even leave a number of small levers inside with the cat and it still couldn't get this open. The carrier is lightweight and comes in 2 halves that fit together, so don't be surprised by the small size of the shipper; it's easy to put together and if you ever need to clean it, it's easy to disassemble and hose or scrub clean. The cat? Well she's got to learn to love it even though it usually means a trip to the vet.

If I had bought this for the size of pet they recommend, I would have returned this item. It is definitely not worth the original $40 price. The plastic is of thin quality and the food and water dish included is ridiculously small. Also, the door rattles horribly in the car!! THAT BEING SAID, I did buy this for my little Chihuahua, who is only 3lbs but a little too tall for a small sized kennel, and this kennel works perfectly for him. If he were any heavier the handle would come off and the bottom would sag - but since he's tiny this kennel is perfect for him, I would def recommend this item to anyone needing a taller kennel for a tiny dog with longer legs. But NOT for any pet over 5lbs!!!

I will be traveling to Brazil with my diabetic 16 pound cat. I read the reviews over and over because I was afraid my cat wouldn't fit in it. The 18 inches long includes the wheels. The real lengh is 16. There is no way my 16 pound cat would fit comfortably in there. Only if she were smashed during the 15 hours trip. Since it's said here that it will carry a 22 pounds animal, I decided to buy it. I guess my husband will use it as a backpack now... and we'll have to buy another carrier for the trip.

We bought this carrier for my mother-in-law who probably would not be able to carry her dog in a typical carrier. The wheels on this make it so easy for her to use. Her dog loved being wheeled around in it. The mesh on the top and sides make the dog feel secure and comfortable. The only downfall was that the brace on the sides is supposed to be kept in place by little pieces of velcro but they come undone easily.

An excellent product. My cat loved the furry base and immediately started to knead it. In the airport departure lounge I opened the top flap and he could sit up with his head out to have a look around.

Likewise while he was under the plane seat I could put my hand in through the top to give him a stroke. I left all the side panels closed to make him feel safe and there was still plenty of ventilation through the top panels and the corners. The large side pocket is great for his grooming stuff (we were traveling to compete in a cat show) and my personal things as well.

This bag was great for airplane travel! It fit perfectly under the seat in front of me with a tiny bit of room to spare. I was concerned it was going to be a little too tall but it was perfect! I purchased this carrier for my cat for her first ever plane ride. I fit under the seat just fine, due to one end's flexibility/smoosh-ability. The roll-up panels allowed for ventilation when we were sitting on the tarmac. I rolled the sides down when we landed in Fairbanks, AK and the back doors were opened - BRRR! The carrier is cute and so well constructed, even an irate Siamese couldn't get out. The pockets were handy for her certificate of health and some treats for the flight which, due to Alaska weather, took eight hours instead of two. But it was a comfortable and well contained ride for my cat. I would recommend this carrier for small dogs as well, as it was plenty roomy for my tubby kitty.

This carrier is excellent! I highly recommend for anyone traveling with a small dog. First, the dimensions of this bag are not correct on the Amazon site, they are: 18" D x 11" W x 10.5" H, Weight: 3.09 - this is from the Sherpa's Pet Trading Company ([...]).

I used this bag to pick up my 9 week old Shih Tzu. He was 3.5 pounds at the time and fit very easily in the carrier. I was able to fit him, a blanket, two toys and he still had plenty of room to move around.

I flew on two Delta airplanes and the carrier fit easily under the compartment in front of me, however it did stick out a little. It is a little long, but still complies with Delta regulations. Sherpa makes a "Delta approved" pet carrier, this Legacy Pattern bag is the exact same size as the Delta Approved bag - I even called the Sherpa Pet Company to confirm. The bag is not too wide, so you can place your feet on either side of the carrier.

I called Delta a few times to get the dimensions allowed for a soft kennel, carry-on bag. It took a few people to get a consistent answer. The size of the soft kennel for carry-on changes with the airplane you are on, so be sure to call to make sure the carrier is appropriate.

The bag is nicely ventilated and you have the option to cover up the sides of the carrier with the flaps. This feature is really nice to keep from over stimulating your puppy while moving around the airport. The flaps are easy to use, so when on the flight, they can be up for more air circulation. Other bags I have looked at do not seem to have a good amount of air ventilation.

The bag is extremely cute, I have received many compliments on it. Most people had no idea I was carrying a puppy. Also, there are two really nice compartments on the bag - one ideal for papers and the other for small things you may need on the plane.

As for the strength of bag, I cannot comment too much on that. My puppy slept almost the entire trip (7 hour total travel time), so he never tried to claw or bite at the mesh paneling. The bag weighed more than my puppy, but was comfortable to carry using the shoulder strap.

I highly recommend this bag if you are looking for a nice quality, doesn't scream "I have a pet" bag to use for airplane travel.

"Not stout enough for serious dogs!" 2009-11-22

I work in Alaska in the summer and winter in New Mexico, so have to fly back and forth twice a year. I have a 63 lb. sled dog that flies with me. If a large powerful dog like mine wants out, this kennel will not keep him from getting out, he has destroyed two doors and now the bottom half of the kennel. Unfortunately, neither will any of the other plastic airline kennels sufficiently contain this type of dog. I am looking into a foldable aluminum kennel from Kalispel.

If you have a normal dog, this kennel should be fine, and costs 6 times less than the Kalispel.

PS My kennel was the LARGE size.

I ordered the Petmate Vari Kennel Deluxe fashion medium in blue/clay ($45.99) directly from Revival Animal Health and I'm thrilled with the product, service, and price. It came within 2 days of ordering via Fed-ex and their customer service is nice.

The kennel is study and made of heavy duty plastic. I like the wing nut fastners and sturdy, easy latch door. The color is a nice blue and it's not ugly or horribly plain like most kennels. My only complaint is the plastic handle on top of the carrier seems flimsy and I don't know how long it will last. The metal grate side vents are a little loose and slide back and forth (not a big problem). This should fit my adult Bichon Frise nicely with room to spare.

I also bought the 24"x18" Midwest fleece pad from Revival($10.49)and it fits the bottom of this kennel perfectly.

P.S. Shipping was cheaper with Revival directly ($8.99) than through Amazon and much faster (Fed-ex home).

I purchased this carrier for my 10 pound cat. It's well made, cozy and has nice features, although the color choice is not optimal. By weight, she should fit, but she is long in build and only about 2/3rds of her length can be accommodated. The actual dimensions of this carrier were several inches less than described, i.e., only 14 inches in length rather than 17 inches. So, I cannot use this for her and will give it to my daughter for her bunny.

We got our Bergan carriers in the mail just the other day, and I gotta say: they're pretty awesome for the price. Our two youngest cats (4 and 8 months old) fit into them with ease, but our adult cat is a bit of a squeeze.

Regardless of how they feel about their hard carriers, our kitty trio loves these ones. I'll occasionally find them napping inside of their own volition, which is fairly adorable. I am also quite impressed with the addition of the zippered side -- to small for the pets to get out of, but large enough for a hand to fit inside to comfort an animal during transportation. Really innovative, really cute!

We tried out a pet taxi and decided to take it back, since it just didn't feel sturdy. The plastic felt really thin and then clips were a bugger to open and close. Plus it just didn't seem like it was last for the life of our puppy. So we went looking again and found the Aran 3 and love it. It feels really sturdy, the latches are easy to open and close and feel secure, the plastic feels thicker and the doors stays nice and open. Overall it just feels like a better built product. Some people talk about the handle not staying on though I'm curious if they're installing it properly. I will admit the directions aren't 100% clear on how to put this thing together. Though a little trial and error and you'll figure it out.

The key with the handle is to push the handle clips through the small square grate holes in the middle. It's hard, but they'll fit. And also make sure that the side of the handle clips with the lip are facing each other. These give the handle something to latch onto.

Picked it up by the handle, walked outside, wham! The handle broke off, and the carrier containing my already-stressed cat fell down and bounced on the driveway.

I was a bit worried buying this for my shih tzu as this crate is advertised as a cat carrier and the other reviews talk only about cats, but I'm really glad I bought this for my dog. My shih tzu is 15 lbs, and 14.5" in length from the neck to the base of the tail (he's probably about 20" long including his head). He fits in this crate with room to spare! He can stand up without touching the top of the crate, turn around, and lay down however he wishes.

He absolutely loves using this carrier as his little den inside our home where he's safe from being bothered by the children. The many slits and double doors provide ample ventilation so I know he's getting plenty of fresh air and sunlight in there.

I don't use the double doors as much anymore now that he's an adult and walks into the carrier as he wishes, but when he was a puppy it was very useful putting him in the carrier without him being able to escape. Now I have taken the front door off so he can walk in and out all the time.

This carrier is made in Italy. Although it is in 2 pieces (top and bottom), I very much like that it has a locking mechanism to keep the top and bottom together. It is very sturdy, with a nice thick carrying handle, and very easy to assemble. The only "negative" is that I expected the top to open, which is does not. Nevertheless, I will likely be ordering more because this is an excellent carrier.

I purchased the sling after reading the on-line reviews. I looked at other sites and they were much more money and I didn't want frilly designs on mine. I like to walk, and we have a 6-7 lb. chihuahua named Bonita. She likes to walk... most of the time. She gets bucky sometimes and just doesn't feel like walking any longer. So I had to pick her up and carry her for the rest of our walk. Well, I thought this was the purfect product for us. I like it, she likes it also. She is so cute with her head sticking out. The bag is made of back pack material and of good quality. The improvements I would make are making it 2 inches deeper and a pocket you can actual put poop bags, keys and change in on the side. The little label you see on the front of the bag is the pocket they speak of in the description. It could hold a credit card and some change maybe. Overall me and Bonita seem happy with it. I would save your money if you pet is over 10 pounds. I could not see using it on this size pet.

I ordered this hoping I'd have a low maintenance, non-frilly bag for my 8lb little one. I wanted one that would fit her long body (she's a shih tzu) and not give her a stiff neck at the same time. This bag is like a fabric canoe...or hammock...Although there is a strap across the top (presumably to hold her in? There's also a hook on either side to latch onto a collar) I worry that she could still fall out or jump out. Also, I don't know if it's because it's super stretchy, but I had to shorten the strap a LOT to make sure the bag didn't swing down by my knees.

I wish the bottom were sturdier. I will probably add a small folded blanket or something to the bottom to give it a little more structure and padding.

This bag is okay. You get what you pay for. I still feel like there are better, more attractive bags out there that simultaneously aren't frilly, overpriced lame Juicy Couture monstrosities.

We love this carrier! Our dog looks rediculous but he is really comfortable and just hangs out while in it.

Here's a tip; if you find the straps slipping off your shoulders, just criss-cross them in the back. The additional support it gives is fabulous and it feels completely secure.

My son and I have Chihuahuas. We love these backpacks. His dog uses it exclusively as his only carrier (must be a guy thing). I have other bags and use mine when I bike or hike or go somewhere like a craft show where I want my hands free. Very comfortable for both the human to carrry, and the dog to travel in. Ours just curl up and go to sleep. We've taken them in golf carts (the bag sits on the floor or in the little rack behind the seat) and into restaurants. (No one notices you have a dog...they just think it's a backpack). Small dogs can't hike as far as big dogs, since they take more steps per mile, so this is a great thing when they have gone as far as they want...you can comfortably just put them in the bag and let them rest. Nice design, with the mesh sides for ventilation. I really like being able to zip them in, or open the top. My only modification was lengthening the inside harness clip...it is a little short if they want to lay down. I always use the clip for safety if I have the top open. My dog jumped out once when seeing another dog while biking and she hung suspended until I got stopped and put her back in and zipped her in! (It was her first time biking...she doesn't do that anymore)! The harness strap is very secure and saved her life, I'm sure!!! I usually just keep it zipped up for safety when we bike, though! I love this bag. Would rate it A+++

This bag has lots of handy compartments for keys, treats, your wallet, etc. It is of quality construction, with a chest and belly strap to keep the bag secure while biking or hiking. The straps are comfortable, and there are reflective strips in case you go out in the dark.

I use this bag to tote my 10 lb. Miniature Pinscher around wherever I go. She goes with me inside those superstores that sell groceries and home goods. She also goes with me to those home improvement stores. People are none the wiser (unless she barks) because the black mesh conceals the dog. Overall, I am please with the bag. HOWEVER, the dimensions they give are for the OUTSIDE of the bag, and with the outside compartments, the actual dog compartment is much smaller. My dog has almost outgrown the bag, the leggy thing that she is. The INSIDE measures 7 1/2"D X 11 1/2"W X 12"H. Please be advised the the bag angles down to 9 1/2"H near the front of the bag. I highly recommend the bag to those owners who have dogs smaller than a standard Min Pin.

I bought two of these to be used on a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Europe to the States. I got them in kiwi green, and I love the color (which is exactly like in the pictures). Not much room for the cats to move, but I read somewhere they like to travel like that. The other cat is bigger than the other, and she really didn't have much space to turn. The flight went well. Bags fit under the seat perfectly. Cats stayed quiet almost the entire flight (only sound I heard from them was when there was some turbulence), and they didn't try/want to get out of the bags during the flight at all, which amazed me. I took them into the restroom to stretch their legs and give them some water, but they really wanted to stay in the bag. I guess they were scared, because it was their first flight. The pockets are great too on the side of the bags. And you can turn the bag to its side if you want, because there's some cushioning on it too (only on one side). The only thing I complained was that I ordered two of these quite close to our flight, and the other one had a different kind of strap to it (other one having metal parts and the other one having plastic parts) so it was quite nerve-racking having to do the exchange to have them both be alike, since with the first exchange they sent the same looking bag back that I had just returned.

This is a VERY sturdy, cute carrier and I had no problem taking my dog with me on trip that involved layovers. I had some concerns about my dog breathing since a reviewer or two said the ventilation was bad, but this was not a problem. I probably should have guessed those reviewers were wrong since one claimed his dog was sweating!! I think the privacy of the case was appreciated by my dog; he stayed calm without any medications. Of course, I did "practice" with him for a week, putting him in the bag with treats for increasing amounts of time. He really hated it the first time, but by the end of a week, he was exploring the carrier himself!

If you are worried about how dark the windows are, don't worry-Fido can see out. The mesh is designed a lot like a one-way window.

Drawbacks: my bag did not come with the second set of D-rings on the side that the pictures show. I was disappointed by this because it was one of the final determining factors between this and another case. Perhaps these are only included on the small bag, but my dog would have benefited greatly from having more height and less width when I was carrying him around. Backpack straps would have been nice, too, but you can't have everything. One reviewer's comment about the shoulder strap slipping was, for me, untrue. NO slippage!

The inside of the case is nice, but I wish the floor was softer. It's a cheap, plastic base that makes crinkling noises when the dog walks on it

Unless you have a very small "toy" dog (like less than 5 pounds), make sure you show the airline people the dog by opening the top flap; the side door is so small that even though my dog complied with airline regulations, he looked enormous peeking out of the side door and they questioned his ability to strand upright.

Okay, so maybe I'm jumping the gun a little, since I just got this today. But, my 3 lb. yorkie (Mo) is going to love this. The carrier is definitely short when it's layed flat, but the ability to make it vertical is wonderful. Plus, we're using it for a cross-country flight, so I'm sure or dog will want to lay most of the way there, making the vertically-challenged-ness of the bag irrelevant.

It's extremely sturdy, the lining is great (in case of accidents) and the bag itself is beautiful (I got kiwi-green).

I think the most important thing to consider when buying this carrier is the height of your animal, and how willing/able you'll feel on an airplane to change the carrier to the vertical position once you're in flight. I'm traveling with my boyfriend, so he'll be understanding if I have to bump into him a bit to make our Yorkie comfy :)

But, I'd say quality-wise.. this bag's got it zipped-up.

I think the privacy mesh helped- he could see out, but no one could see in. The color of the bag is true to what you see online. The only thing I wish it had was more padding on the shoulder strap and maybe handles on the sides that you could use to carry your pet with one hand when you don't use the strap. The large was just the right size for my dog- gave him a little room to turn around. I think the small wouldn't have work- he is a Bichon Mix...

I wasn't ready however, for quite as low a grade item as I found. The key issue I want to share is that THE DOOR OPENS WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED ROM THE INSIDE.... my cat escaped when I wasn't looking, Be sure to keep an eye on the little plastic "latches" which begin to turn allowing door to open if your cat is trying to get out.

I have a yorkie puppy and bought the Bergan comfort carrier, soft sided in pink. it was great to carry her in but when we used it for a travel bag, to take the 10 minute ride to the vet, she barked all the way there and all the way back. I've only used it 3 times and the 3rd time, she managed to get her teeth between the 1/4 in opening between the zippers when they are clipped and dig her teeth into the mesh part of the carrier. About 5 minutes from home, she has chewed her self a hole big enough to put her snout in and eventually got her whole head through and stuck. I had a time getting her head out and now the carrier is useless to me. I really liked the look of it and the soft padding inside, but it was not durable enough for a puppy, only 5 lbs.

I purchased this product for air travel with my 6 pound Rescue Papillon. It was rejected by the airline because it was too small for him. And it WAS way too small for him. (I would not have used it anyway as I could see he was not comfortable at all.)

It's not the fault of the manufacturer, but rather my own in that, because this dog was a rescue I wasn't able to personally measure him myself and went by an estimate. I thought it would be large enough for him. The problem was that he could not turn around in the carrier and it was far, far too tight. It was so small it freaked him out when I attempted to place him inside.

I had to take a taxi to the nearest PetSmart ($79!!! Ahh!) to go purchase a Sherpa, Original (Large). My Papillon is 12 inches in length, 11 inches at the shoulder, and 13 1/2 inches from floor to top of his head and as noted above, he's only 6 pounds.

There is NO question about the quality of the Bergan Comfort Carrier being very high indeed. It was. It is a matter of properly measuring your pet for travel. The Bergan carrier would be more appropriate for much smaller pets.

For what it's worth, the design of the Bergan was incredible. The openings were perfect and the pad in the bottom was great quality.

I donated it to USAirways in Dallas Fort Worth airport for a future traveler with a small pet whose carrier wasn't appropriate.

We used this carrier to take our Boston Terrier on a flight when she was a 5 lb. puppy. It worked great. There's a very comfortable sherpa lining (which you can remove and wash) and the zippers open on both sides. It's nicely constructed and there was a good amount of room to move around (even with a stuffed toy in there). I liked that she could see out of the entire top. The strap was comfortable, the padded handle made it easy to hold for longer periods of time and the pockets on the outside are great for stuffing treats or her leash. I've passed mine on to another friend with a small puppy because our Boston outgrew this, but I'm going to order the larger one for her because I liked this style so well.

He felt both comfortable and safe inside and never made a sound during the flights! He was good about coming out for the metal detector carry-through, then going back inside once we went through security. I am glad I purchased this bag and that it was sturdy enough to withstand his scratching when he first fought to try to get out. Now the puppy runs into this bag for some quiet time, although he probably won't fit into it for too much longer!
